Things that happened on Zach's second anniversary

ree

We took the camper-van out for the weekend so we were away and in nature and camped in Rhayader Wales. Martin was up early and went for a short walk. The sun was out but low in the sky as it was only about 7am, so as he walked he could just see his long shadow just out of the corner of his eye. He was sure he could see two shadows next to each other but as he turned to look it was only one. He then turned back to walk ahead and as he did he was sure it became two shadows again and then he knew it was he and Zach walking together. We decided to go for a walk in Elan Valley as there is a string of reservoirs that you can walk around. We parked at the dam of the second reservoir and started the 7mile round trip walk with the dogs. The first half was along an open road with an occasional car and bikes passing us along the way. Then Martin said "this is a nice piece of road Zach", the next cars that came past about 2 minutes later were 3 cars together, first was an old rally car with a full blown roll cage, lights the works, followed close behind by two old race cars driven on the road, we knew Zach was with us, no other performance cars passed us the rest of the walk. When we got to the next dam and crossed to the other side to start our return there were some people picnicking and we spoke to them, during the conversation they mentioned that the path we were on was closed due to a rock slide and we may not be able to get all the way back to our van by staying on the path. We thought we would give it a try as this was just a foot path and the dogs were free to run, after we walked about another mile we noticed a butterfly was flying just ahead of us on the path and as we continued to walked it too kept flying with us, right along side and in between us. I said "hi Zach" and it flew around and right between us and then stayed right next to us for maybe another 10 minutes. It was like Zach was telling us to keep on the path and not turn back, that we would be able to get through. When we did come to the rock slide the path was closed but there was a trail people had made to get around the slide so on we went back to the van. On the first night (Thursday) it was cold so we went to turn the heater on but it wouldn't come on so Martin checked it to see if he could get it working, it turns out you should run the heater once a month or it may need a service, with COVID we haven't been camping in a long time and hadn't turned it on so, No heater, we tried everything to get it to work! The second night was cold too and again, No heater, believe me we tried to get it working and we knew it would need to go in for a service when we got back. Well, after the walk with the cars, the shadow that Martin saw and the butterfly on his anniversary, we were amazed at the signs and then, what do you know, I got in the van to make some lunch and what was on and running? The heater, it just turned itself on! Thank you Zach, what could have been a really bad day, turned out not to be so bad after all. We sure do love you Zach.
