Cathedral window

Day 20: 7th May, 2019

We were driving to the airport today to pick up my cousin and my dad who were on their way here from the States for the funeral and as we were driving, we were talking to Zach and telling him it was his car and that he should drive us there. All of a sudden the car shot forward like someone pushed on the accelerator, but Martin was driving and hadn’t pushed harder on it, he was just sitting in the drivers seat, we know it was Zach. This afternoon, Simon went to the crash site and when he got there, he said he didn’t see the chicken but as he went back to the car, guess who, yep the chicken was stood right outside his car looking at him. He said it just appeared out of nowhere. When he got home, we all decided to go to Chester cathedral and look at the stained glass windows. I thought, as my dad is an artist and that is what he does for a living, it would be nice for everyone to see them. As we were all stood around chatting, my mom said she heard Zach tell her to look up. As she did, the window right above our heads where we were stood read “I am alive forever more.” After we left the cathedral, we went to the funeral home and tried to turn on the lights in Zach’s room. We tried everything and even asked the staff to come and help but now they wouldn’t come on at all, so we just left them off and we thought “okay Zach we understand.” He doesn’t want us to remember him that way.
