Day 214: 17th November, 2019
Martin and I walked the boys into town to buy a sweater. The boys and Martin waited outside on a bench and while I was in the shop, Martin said he felt a thump and looked next to him but nothing or no one was around to make the sound and the dogs were no where near him. He then felt the bench move and he said he knew it was Zach sitting down next to him on the bench. Later that day we were driving to pick out a piano and on the way, Zach shifted the car for Martin from 4th to 3rd gear. If he hadn’t have changed gears, we would have missed our turn but we didn’t realise that until we got to the exit. Once we got to the piano shop, we found two pianos and couldn’t decide between which one to get. One was a German brand and needed a lot of work but it was beautiful and the other is made by a company in London and it is stunning as well. I asked for the date that each one was built as I heard Zach say to me “check the dates mum.” The British one was built in 1898 and the other in 1906. Zach was born in 1998. The British piano has two wooden pedals. They are super rare and the pianist said he had only ever seen one other piano with wooden pedals and it was Queen Victoria’s, which they sold in their shop! They have another one of hers in their showroom they are selling as well. So, the date ‘98 and the pedals, his race car only had two pedals, we knew which one to buy!
