Cologne

Day 16: 3rd May, 2019

Martin and I went to the funeral home again and on our way home we have to walk through town. As I have said in a previous blog, there are buskers in town and as we began walking, we passed a busker who was playing and singing Purple Rain again. In living in this town for over 10 years now, I have maybe heard Purple Rain played and sang once or twice before Zach passed. When we got home, I went into Zach’s room and turned on the light, as I stood there I could smell his cologne again. I waited for ages thinking it was just me, but I decided to go get my mom, Martin and a couple of Zach’s friends who were also here and we all went back to his room. The smell of his cologne was so strong it made both of our dogs sneeze and it gave me a headache! The strength of the smell was like if you have ever walked into a perfume shop and the scent is really overwhelming, that is what it was like. It was moving throughout his two rooms and was over my mom’s left shoulder all night. Another one of Zach’s friends went upstairs to his room and he said as he walked in, the floorboard creaked behind him so he stopped but the floorboard kept creaking as if someone was walking on it following him and Zach’s floor does not do that. Later tonight, when we went to bed, we could STILL smell the cologne and my mom said she could smell it in her room all night as well. It is crazy how he is communicating and teaching and showing us all he is still right here.
